Has TSA DHS Labeled Matt Drudge a Domestic Terrorist?

Former Republican Congressman Bob Barr has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for information the Transportation Security Administration and/or the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) may have gathered on Matt Drudge of The Drudge Report and other online media personalities.

Matt Drudge

From Prison Planet:

The request seeks to ascertain whether any of these names have been linked with the term “domestic extremist,” in reference to a reported TSA memo that was leaked last week which, according to Doug Hagmann, “officially addresses those who are opposed to, or engaged in the disruption of the implementation of the enhanced airport screening procedures as ‘domestic extremists’.”

Numerous confirmed memos originating out of federal or state law enforcement agencies, such as the infamous MIAC report, have listed conservatives and libertarians as “domestic extremists” and even potential domestic terrorists for opposing big government and supporting Constitutionally-minded campaigns and causes.

The actual FOIA request asks specifically for:

Disclosure of any and all Administrative Directives from either the Transportation Security Administration (“TSA”) and/or the Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) pertaining to instructions to staff that affect the public when members of the public are asked to submit to full body scans or “pat downs” while attempting to board aircraft, which have been adopted by the TSA or DHS. I also request any documents which discuss the aforementioned issue and contain the terms “national opt-out day,” “Bob Barr,” “Opt Out Alliance,” “Liberty Gueard,” “John Tyner,” “domestic extremists,” “drudgereport.com,” “Matt Drudge,” “prisonplanet.com,” “Alex Jones,” and any other term or proper name germane to the forementioned terms and matter.

Read the entire FOIA here. The request is made through Barr’s Liberty Guard, a non-profit with a mission to inform Americans on matters “affecting personal liberty, Constitutional rights and citizen’s right for privacy.”

In 2009, a Missouri DHS office report labeled supporters of Ron Paul and Bob Barr “militia” and suspected domestic terrorists.

Matt Drudge has been at the center of reporting every step the TSA is taking, and the public’s outrage. After shutting down scanners and intrusive pat-downs over the Thanksgiving holiday, the TSA mocked the public opt-out day, saying it turned into a” TSA appreciation day.” So are the scanners and pat-downs necessary? Apparently the TSA decided there was not much risk and let everyone through with only the metal detector and carry-on luggage. Then they laughed at us for killing the opt-out protest. How serious do we really think Big Brother and Bis Sis are about terrorism?

The FOIA should be executed within twenty days of the request date of November 29th, 2010. Can’t wait to know if  Matt Drudge is a domestic terrorist. If you’re not reading The Drudge Report, you should be.
