Marcus Stanley, senior aide to Senator Barbara Boxer, was arrested Tuesday as he tried to get marijuana inside the Hart Senate Office building. Stanley serves as a senior economic adviser to Boxer.
According to Babs, Stanley submitted his resignation immediately. He has been employed on Captiol Hill since 2007 and his salary is reportedly “in the 6 figures.”
According to The San Francisco Chronicle, U.S. Capitol Police stopped the 43-year-old aide Tuesday morning after he allegedly tried to “remove and conceal” a leafy green substance from his pocket as he was entering the Hart Office Building.
Unfortunately for Stanley, who had worked for Boxer since 2009, the substance tested positive for a chemical compound in marijuana, reports The San Francisco Chronicle.
Senator Boxer is opposing Proposition 19 in California which will legalize pot and tax it. Stanley is the fourth Capitol Hill aide arrested this year.
