Mosab Hassan Yousef is the son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a co-founder of Hamas. For many years, the now 32-year-old Yousef supplied Israel with intelligence that foiled terrorist attacks against Israel from Palestine. See a video with Bill Hemmer, Jonathan Hunt and Mr. Yousef below. Read the latest on Homeland Security’s efforts to deport Mr. Yousef.
Mosab Hassan Yousef converted to Christianity about 10 years ago. In 1996 he was arrested by Israel and imprisoned. In less than a year, after watching members of Hamas torture other Hamas members, and after a chance meeting with a Christian tourist, he began working with Israel’s Shin Bet and began informing on Palestinian jihadists. If you skip the content below and go right to the video, know that Israel praised Mosab for saving many, many lives…and said he didn’t do any of it for money…he did it because it was the right thing to do.
Today, Mosab lives in or near San Diego and he attends an evangelical Christian church.
[Mosab Hassan Yousef] supplied key intelligence on an almost daily basis from 1996 onwards and
tracked down suicide bombers and their handlers from his father’s
organization, the daily Haaretz said.
Information he supplied led to the arrests of some of the most wanted
Israeli forces, including Marwan Barghouti, a Fatah leader often tipped
potential president who was convicted of masterminding terrorist
and one of Hamas’ top bomb-makers Abdullah Barghouti, who is no relation
the jailed Fatah chief.
His Israeli handler, known as Captain Loai said Yousef, whose codename was Green Prince, saved untold Israeli lives – “they owe him their lives and they don’t even know it,” he said.

Mr Yousef…went as far as tracking down would-be kamikazes
himself in the streets of the West bank during the Second Intifada which
erupted a decade ago and left thousands of Palestinians and Israelis
On one occasion he followed a bomber from Manara Square in the centre of
Ramallah, just north of Jerusalem.
We didn’t know his name or what he looked like — only that he was in his
and would be wearing a red shirt,” said the former handler. “We
sent the Green Prince to the square and with his acute sense, he located
target within minutes. He saw who picked him up, followed the car and
it possible for us to arrest the suicide bomber and the man who was
to give him the belt. So another attack was thwarted, though no one
about it. No one opens Champagne bottles or bursts into song and dance.
was an almost daily thing for the Prince. He displayed courage, had
antennae and an ability to cope with danger.”
Yousef is concerned that prisoners he helped put in Israeli prisons will be released to secure the freedom of Israeli soldier Gilat Shalit:
I wish I were in Gaza now,” he said. “I would put on an army
uniform and join Israel’s special forces in order to liberate Gilad
If I were there, I could help. We wasted so many years with
and arrests to capture the very terrorists that they now want to release
return for Schalit. That must not be done.”
As of two years ago, Yousef was still in touch with his family. He said they love him very much, and he loves them. He said they support his decision to embrace Christianity, but they hoped he would not make his faith known publically.
For those of us blogging about a so-called “peace” between Palestine and Israel, the young Mr. Yousef echoes our thoughts exactly. He knows that the Koran does not allow peace or Israel’s existance:
Hamas cannot make peace with the Israelis,” he told the daily. “That is
against what their God tells them. It is impossible to make peace with
infidels, only a cease-fire, and no one knows that better than I. The
leadership is responsible for the killing of Palestinians, not
