What a pathetic whine from the leader of the Free World. After sending George Mitchell to the Middle East as his “peace” envoy, and sending Hillary to the area several times, the President says “This is just really hard.” Can you imagine what Angela Merkle, Nicolas Sarkosy and the Saudi Royals think about that?
From Obama’s interview with Joe Klein at Time:
I’ll be honest with you.
A) This is just really hard. Even for a guy like George Mitchell,
who helped bring about the peace in Northern Ireland. This is as
intractable a problem as you get.
B) Both sides — the Israelis and the Palestinians — have found
that the political environment, the nature of their coalitions or the
divisions within their societies, were such that it was very hard for
them to start engaging in a meaningful conversation. And I think that
we overestimated our ability to persuade them to do so when their
politics ran contrary to that. From Abbas’ perspective, he’s got Hamas
looking over his shoulder, and I think an environment general within
the Arab world that feels impatient with any process.
In the interview, Obama went on to say his administration had not anticipated “some of the political problems on sides…” Both statements are shocking, distressing and dangerous. America, look who you elected! Where has the man been all these years? Oh, yes – on the mean
streets of Chicago organizing voter thugs into so-called grassroots
There is only one issue in the Middle East regarding the coveted two-state-solution for an official homeland for Palestinians. Palestine will not accept Israel’s right to exist, and no matter the fiery and solemn rhetoric, this is the only issue. If Israel cannot start with a declaration of their right to exist from their neighbors, then there will be no peace, because…because…Palestine is not committed to a peaceful solution. Palestine is committed to recoveirng land and driving out Jews.
We’ve shut our ears and our eyes to the obvious: Palestine wants Israel “gone” and has vowed to kill every Jew in the area. What is it we don’t get about the Palestine’s position? Just the same as America’s refusal to recognize the threat of Islam’s jihad against us, we have foolishly, for decades, refused to believe the Palestinian position against Israel. And even more foolishly, we have funded Palestine’s terrorist organizations.
President Obama always thinks he has the better idea. Remember when he sent George Mitchell to Jerusalem with a whole entourage to live in Jerusalem?
The Mitchell-Obama et al goal has turned out to be “just really hard,” because it is not grounded in reality. It is grounded in State Department policy that has nothing to do with reality. The two-state-solution with demanding that Palestine accept Israel has been the folly of every modern day president.
Perhaps we cannot be too critical of Barack Obama and his unpresidential whine that its “just really hard.”. You elected him knowing his Muslim sympathies. Past Presidents have no such excuse (well, excepting Jimmy Carter). It is unacceptable that we cannot elect a president who respects the only democracy in the Middle East by demanding that Palestine accept Israel’s right to exist, as a starting place Assuming Palestine continues that hateful position, we cut off the millions in aid to this terrorist state – make the people take out their frustrations on their leaders – assuming their Arab brothers do no come to their aid, and I don’t think they would. That’s the starting place for Middle Eastern dialog.
