A Florida man contacted a Killeen florist via email and ordered a bouquet of yellow roses for Nidal Hasan, the man who murdered 14 soldiers, civilians and babies at Fort Hood, Texas last week.
The owner of the Florist shop, retired Army Sgt. Phil Enderle, said the man’s order included a request that he “play dumb” if authorities inquired about the bouquet. He said “my money’s green like anyone else’s.” And the card attached was to read:
Major Nidal Hasan. Koran 2: 190-3. In God’s eye, and those who submit, you are a hero!
Enderle took the message to the FBI, who then turned up on the man’s doorstep. The Florida man says his constitutional rights have been stifled. The FBI took no action.
Enderle said “I did what I thought was right.” The actual order was for bouquets to be sent to each hospital in the Fort Hood area, “in hopes it would end up getting to Hasan.”
It is unclear whether the order was filled and delivered. I see a lawsuit in Sgt. Enderle’s future. He DID do the right thing.
