Leonard Patrick Gonzalez, Jr., the man accused of killing Byrd “Bud” Billings and his wife, Melanie, has stabbed an inmate in the Escambia County jail in Pensacola, Florida. Update 10-25-09.
Fellow inmate Kevin Dale Wilkins occupied a cell adjacent to Gonzalez. Gonzalez left his cell to make a phone call and asked Wilkins to hold some paperwork for him. Wilkins refused and Gonzalez, also known as Patrick Poff, stabbed Wilkins in the “upper left shoulder” with a pencil.
Apparently, Wilkins was in reach of his attacker when Gonzalez – on the way back to his own cell – took advantage of the opportunity and stabbed Wilkins again, in about the same area of his shoulder.
